OE Backup Tiger Help Index

The Restore Wizard will help you restore the following data in Outlook Express:

When the Restore Wizard is launched, you can see "OE Backup Tiger / Restore Wizard" in the title bar of the program.

The Restore Wizard includes the following step:

 

Step 1 (Backup File)

Specifying the backup file and options for restoring.

Backup File Name - here you should specify the path to the backup file you want to restore data from.

Use Password - select this option if the backup file is protected with a password. Enter the password into the Password field and repeat it in the Confirm Password field.

Overwrite existing file - if this option is selected, the existing file will be replaced with the restored one. It can take the following values:

Navigation:

Back - go to the start page.
Next - go to step 2.
Cancel - close the Restore Wizard
Help - open help

 

Step 2 (Settings)

Selecting data for restoring.

At this step you select what data among those present in the backup file you want to restore.

Identities - the tree with the list of all identities present in the backup file. You can restore only the identity data backed up previously.

The following data can be backed up for each identity :

You can restore the entire list of identities with all data in them, or separate identities, or some particular data from different identities.

If there are no identities in the backup file, the tree is unavailable.

Address Book - if this option is selected, the Address Book will be restored. Available only if there is an Address Book in the backup file.

Favorites - if this option is selected, IE Favorites will be restored.

Available only if there are Favorites in the backup file.

To move on to the next step, you must select data for restoring.

Next - go to step 3.
Cancel - close the Restore Wizard

Step 3 (Summary)

Viewing options for restoring.

At this step you can check if all options for restoring are specified correctly and configure what the program should do in case any errors occur during the process of restoring.

Summary - the field where you can see the data selected for restoring and the specified backup file.

Options for handing errors:

Ignore Errors (all messages will be ignored) - if this option is selected, all nonfatal errors will be ignored and the process of restoring will continue. If the option is not selected, the process of restoring will be finished after the first nonfatal error. If a fatal error occurs, the process of restoring will be finished independent of the specified options. All errors are logged in the Error log.

Show Error messages - if this option is selected, error messages will be displayed. No matter if this option is selected, all errors are logged in the Error log.

Back - go to step 2.
Finish - start restoring, go to step 4.
Cancel - close the Restore Wizard
Help - open help

 

Step 4 (Restore)

Restoring.

At this step the selected data is restored from the backup file.

At the top you can see the stage of the process. It takes the following values:

Below you can see the Progress bar that shows the progress of restoring.

At the bottom there is a field where you can see the progress of restoring each separate piece of data.

Navigation:

Back - go to step 3. Available only if there are any errors.
Error Log - show the Error log, go to step 5. Available only if there are any errors.
Cancel - stop the backup process, close the Restore Wizard. Available only when restoring is in progress.
Close - close the Restore Wizard
Help - open help

 

Error Log

Error log. It is displayed if there are any errors detected during the process of restoring data.

Navigation:

Back - go to step 4.
Error Log - unavailable.
Close - close the Restore Wizard
